The Athabasca Hotel is a hotel located at 510 Patricia St in Jasper, AB. The hotel is a historical landmark and meaningful gathering place for locals and visitors of Jasper National Park. It was built in 1929, and the fire alarm system parts range in age from the 1980s to 2022.
System Specifications (2017-present)[edit | edit source]
FACP[edit | edit source]
The building is protected by a Mircom FA-1000 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located behind the front desk, and is in the cabinet of an Edwards 6500. The system coding is temporal.
The FA-1000 replaced a Mircom Series 1000 in 2020, which replaced an Edwards Custom 6500 in the 2000s.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
Most notification appliances are Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bells (10” gong), installed around 1985.
The gaming/entertainment room has an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell (10” gong) as a deficiency replacement.
The lobby has a System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” P2RA (red, wall-mount, 2 wire) horn/strobe, installed as a deficiency replacement.

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
The pull stations are mostly early Mircom MS-401 (gray label) conventional pull stations.
In the lobby, there is one Notifier MPS-950B pull station, installed as a deficiency replacement.
There are white-label Mircom MS-401 pull stations on the third floor, in the gaming/entertainment room in O’Shea’s Restaurant, and in the main lobby (2021), all as deficiency replacements.
There is one first-generation Mircom MS-401 pull station (side-reset) in O'Shea restaurant.
The gaming/entertainment room and O’Shea restaurant have one Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull station each, installed in the 2000s, also likely deficiency replacements.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
All smoke detectors are Mircom “i3” 2W-BA photoelectric smoke detectors. These replaced System Sensor 1412A ionization smoke detectors.
EOLs[edit | edit source]
There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
