Westland Market Mall is a shopping mall located at 70 McLeod Ave, Spruce Grove, Alberta. It is the only mall in Spruce Grove and houses over 30 stores. It was built in 1987, and the fire alarm system is mostly original, with parts replaced as deficiencies occur.
Some tenants in the mall have their own fire alarm system. All systems are wired to trip each other when one goes into alarm.
System Specifications
FACP
The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the rear entrance vestibule. The system is equipped with the FUI display, and the system coding is continuous.
This panel replaced the original Edwards Custom 6500 in 2013.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10" gong).
The renovated part of Shoppers Drug Mart has Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10" gong) mounted on Edwards 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).
There is a Mircom BL-10B motor bell (10" gong) by Shoppers as a deficiency replacement.
M&M Meat Shop has a Simplex 2901-9724 motor bell (10" gong) mounted on a Wheelock RSSP-24MCW-FR strobe plate (red, set to 15cd).
Bulk Barn has an Edwards "Genesis" G1RF-HDVM horn/strobe (red, wall-mount, FIRE marking, set to 15cd), installed in 2014.
Ardene has Edwards G1-HDVM horn/strobes (white, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd).
For exterior notification, there is an Edwards MB10-24 motor bell (10" gong) outside the main entrance as a deficiency replacement.

Pull Stations
All pull stations but one are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.
There is a Notifier NFM-950B conventional single-action pull station in Bulk Barn as a deficiency replacement.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are FDD CR-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in Bulk Barn's storefront.
There are multiple System Sensor 1400A conventional ionization smoke detectors on the atrium.
There are duct smoke detectors on all air handling units, in order of most to least common:
- Edwards 6265B-001 conventional ionization with 6264C-001 heads (original)
- System Sensor D2A conventional photoelectric (deficiency replacements)
- Simplex 4098-9685 conventional photoelectric (deficiency replacements)
EOLs
There is a mix of Edwards EOL-P1 and Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
