One of the original fire bells (Edwards 439D-10AWC) was wired to a doorbell button as well as the EST 6616, and when the doorbell button was pressed, the bell would ring softly to indicate a delivery. It was probably on 12VDC. It is unknown if the horn/strobe there goes off for deliveries, but it is in the same place as the bell that was there, as all the bells were replaced in 2017.

Safeway is a chain of grocery stores in North America. This particular location is located at 70 Shawville Blvd SE, Calgary and was built in 1990, and expanded in 1996. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2017.

System Specifications (2017-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The store is protected by a Simplex 4007ES conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located at the main entrance, and was installed in 2017, replacing an EST 6616. The system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

The notification appliances are all Simplex "TrueAlert" 4906-9127 (red, wall-mount, multi-candela) horn/strobes.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

The pull stations are the original Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations, and were not replaced despite the upgrade.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

Waterflow protection, no visible detectors.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.

Former System Specifications (1996-2017)[edit | edit source]

System Specifications

The pull stations were and still are the Edwards 270-SPO. These are the only devices that were continued to be used on the new 4007ES.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

Not available.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.

Bonus Information[edit | edit source]

One of the original fire bells (Edwards 439D-10AWC) was wired to a doorbell button as well as the EST 6616, and when the doorbell button was pressed, the bell would ring softly to indicate a delivery. It was probably on 12VDC. It is unknown if the horn/strobe there goes off for deliveries, but it is in the same place as the bell that was there, as all the bells were replaced in 2017.
