Marmot Basin is an alpine ski resort located in Jasper National Park, AB. It is located 20 minutes away from Jasper. The resort has 91 ski runs, 6 chairlifts, and three daylodges. This page will cover the Paradise Chalet, which is located mid-mountain in the same building with Eagle Chalet. This daylodge was built in 1991, and still retains its original fire alarm system. The two lodge's fire alarm systems are NOT connected.

System Specifications

FACP

The daylodge is protected by a Notifier System 5000 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance, and has a capacity for 24 zones, 12 zones are in use. It was installed during construction, and has no problems despite its age. The System 5000 is somewhat overkill, as a System 500 with the capacity of 12 or 16 zones could have been installed at the time. The lock on the cabinet has been busted, and is held shut with copper wire. The system is serviced by Helmig Fire Equipment Inc, and the system coding is continuous.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Notifier KMS-10-24VDC/P motor bells (10” gong).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are the original Notifier MPS-950B conventional pull stations (black label). They are installed at every exit and in each stairwell.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed.
