Bob Bahan Aquatic & Fitness Centre is a now closed swimming pool & fitness centre located at 4812 14 Ave SE, Calgary, AB. It is owned and operated by the City of Calgary. The facility was built in 1970, and underwent a major renovation between 1999 and 2000. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2000 and 2006, and was completely replaced in 2024. Current system specifications will be added as soon as information becomes available.

Former System Specifications (2006-2024)

FACP

The building was protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main entrance vestibule. The system ran Mircom’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding was continuous.
The FX-2000 replaced a Simplex 4020 as part of an upgrade project for select buildings.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances were Simplex 2901-9723 motor bells (6” gong) mounted on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW-FR strobe plates (red, set to 15cd).
There were Mircom BL-10B motor bells (10” gong) mounted on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW-FR strobe plates (red, set to 15cd) as deficiency replacements in some areas.
There was an Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bell (6” gong) mounted on an EST “Integrity” 403-5A-R strobe plate (15cd) in the basement mechanical room, also a deficiency replacement.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most pull stations were Simplex 2099-9795 addressable single-action pull stations, converted to conventional.
There was an Edwards 270-SPOW conventional single-action pull station in the pool area.
There was a Fire-Lite MPS-950BF conventional pull station at the main entrance as a deficiency replacement.
All above pull stations were wired to Mircom MIX-M501MA addressable monitor modules.
There was a Mircom MS-401AP addressable single-action pull station at the east exit as a deficiency replacement.

Automatic Detection Devices

There were Mircom MIX-2251BA addressable photoelectric smoke detectors at the top of each stairwell.
There were Mircom MIX-2251RBA addressable 135°F fixed temperature heat detectors throughout the building.
In areas with higher ambient temperatures, there were Mircom MIX-5251HBA addressable 135°F fixed temperature heat detectors
All above detectors were mounted on System Sensor B710LPA bases.
There was a Mircom MIX-5351RAPA addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate of rise heat detector in the mechanical room, mounted on a System Sensor B300A-6 base as a deficiency replacement.

EOLs

There were Mircom MP-300 end of line resistor plates on all signal circuits.
