The Barndominium is a small house located just outside Drumheller in Starland County, Alberta. It started its life as a small barn that was built pre-World War I and was converted to a guest house in 2017.

The Fire Alarm System was installed on the 12th of May 2019 by User:AdenK2333, who maintains, tests and conducts fire drills when necessary.

On May 26, 2020 the alarm system was decommissioned and removed due to a dispute between the installer and the owner.

System Specifications

Panel

The panel is a Fire-Lite MS-4 installed as the original panel in May 2019. It was a used panel, that was used previously by the current owner in another facility.

Notification Appliances

The Barndominium contains three Edwards Genesis G1-HDVM (white, wall mount, no fire marking) horn/strobes. The owner requested white only without fire marking in order to not distract from the beauty of the establishment as they are small and rather invisible.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The establishment has 2 Edwards 270-SPOWB bilingual pull stations, these were also installed at request of the owner due to their small size and to match the notification appliances.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are two different autiomatic detection devices. The downstairs/kitchen detector is a System Sensor C2W-BA, 2-wire, photoelectric i3 smoke detector, it is configured for alarm verification to avoid false alarms caused by cooking.

The upstairs hallway detector is a System Sensor C2WTA-BA, 2-wire, photoelectric i3 smoke detector with a thermal sensor and a built-in sounder.

Pending Upgrades

Panel

The current Fire-Lite MS-4 is set for replacement in the near future with a Fire-Lite MS-10UD-7, along with an ANN-80W white annunciator.

Notification Appliances

There are plans to add a G1-VM (white, wall mount, no fire marking) remote strobe in the restroom.
