Calgary International Airport, also simply known as YYC Airport is an international airport that serves Calgary. It is in NE Calgary. It is the fourth largest airport in Canada, and the largest and busiest airport in Alberta. It was built in the late 1930s, and the Domestic terminal was built in 1977, and the International terminal was built in 2016. The International terminal has the original fire alarm system, but the Domestic terminal does not. It does have hotels, some with their own fire alarm system. All systems are wired to trip each other when one goes into alarm.

Note: Wiki staff are in the process of acquiring more information about this system. As such, this page is not being maintained for the time being. Please check back to see the page when it is done!

The terminal is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. There are two panels in this terminal; the main panel is located in the CACF room, which is near the former Concourse B security checkpoint. The auxillary panel is located in the vestibule of Departures Door 1. The panels replaced Simplex 4100U panels, however the new panels are retrofitted into the old cabinets.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances differ depending on the area. Most notification appliances are Simplex 2901-9724 motor bells (10" gong) on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW-FR strobe plates. Some areas post-security have Simplex 2901-9722 motor bells (10" gong). Some are mounted remotely, and some are on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW-FR strobe plates. The departures area also has Simplex 4904-9105 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd), mounted on the lowered ceilings of the entry doors.

Bonus Information

-The 4100ES in the Domestic Terminal set an Instagram record for actual troubles, with a whopping 102 troubles! There was one with more troubles, but it had many disabled points, whereas this one did not.

-This is the only major airport in North America to use bell/strobes for notification appliances.
