FACP: Notifier AFP-200 System Type: Addressable/Hybrid System Line Voltage: 120VAC NAC Voltage: 24VDC Date of last known Upgrade: 2021 Year Opened: 1978 |
622 5th Avenue SW is a multi-use office building located in the Commercial district of Downtown Calgary. It was built in 1978, but the system is mostly from 2002.
System Specifications
FACP
The building is protected by a Notifier AFP-200C addressable fire alarm system. It replaced an Edwards Custom 6500 in 2002. The panel is located in a janitorial closet on the first floor. The system does code 3 in alarm. The system runs on CLIP, Notifier’s older initiation protocol.
Annunciators
There is a Notifier LCD-80 at the main entrance. It is mounted in the 6500’s cabinet.
Notification Appliances
The notification appliances on the above-ground floors are all System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” PC2WA horn/strobes (white, ceiling-mount). They are set on code-3, medium volume, and 15 candela. The parkade, however, has System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” P2RA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount). They are also set on code 3, medium volume, and 15 candela. The system is not synchronized, as the AFP-200 has no sync options, and there are no sync modules on the system. However, it is grandfathered in, and thus not a code violation.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
Most pull stations are third-generation Edwards 270-SPO single-action “teardrop” pull stations (no FIRE ALARM, classic shield), original to the building. Some have been replaced with Notifier MPS-950B single-action “tab” pull stations, installed after 2002. All pull stations have Notifier MMX-101A addressable modules wired to them, however this is unconfirmed, and they could be FMM-101A.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors located throughout the facility. The mechanical and electrical rooms, however, have Fire Detection Devices CR-165 fixed/rate-of-rise conventional heat detectors, which replaced Edwards 280B-PL heat detectors due to a recall.
